Horsey and train rides

Zoey loves animals.....from a distance. She adores reading books about animals and pointing out all the dogs and the doggie mommies or daddies we see when we are out walking. Singing Old MacDonald with animal puppets is a favorite of hers at our music makers class. Up close and personal, however, animals completely freak her out. If I'm squatting right beside her, she can almost pet a dog, but I feel her entire body tense. She cries at the Christofferson's dog, Lucy, and squeals (not with delight) at the Miller's cat, Cosmo.

It wasn't too much of a surprise then that she wasn't at all excited about riding a horse for the first time. We tried a few times, but she never warmed up to the creatures. Auntie Marilee managed to keep her on long enough to take this awesome picture. My poor girl....but what a picture. She liked the train ride much better. Both attractions are in Griffith Park, very near each other. (And if your kid doesn't want to use the pony ride ticket, they will refund your $3.)
Avery was a champ on the horse and the train.

Zoey still loves Aunt Marilee, despite the horse incident.
